After giving the mandate for the sale our house to close friend who was a realtor, in the Spring of 2011, we came to realize at the end of September, that the best of the market was long gone and nothing concrete had developped. We waited in frustration till the end of our 6 month mandate to be able to undergo a new strategy. We decided to sell the house ourselves and we got our information prepared for Spring 2012. We were about to incur substantial costs to sign-up and register our home to an internet based and high profile company, when we got a call from a realtor. He introduced himself as Andre Chiasson, realtor for Royal Lepage. I was firm and very clear that we were set on selling our house ourselves. Warning to those who want to remain independent of him...André is a mild mannered and intelligent communicator who can through just a few encounters convince you of his genuine dedication to selling your property. It took four calls and a visit from him for us to sign over the mandate to him. Every time he called, we made it clear our intention was to sell our home ourselves and not use the services of a realtor...but on every call he found another detail that we had not considered that he could get clarification and every time doing so without expectations. He has a convincing unpretentious way of making you understand that he has more to offer that you can ever come up with by yourself. After the first four calls, André had obtained more information than we had during the previous year and all that without a mandate and simply as a collaborator. At the end of his fourth call, he asked if it would be possible to meet with us and review the facts and perhaps discuss a potential strategy for the sale of our house. After his visit it was clear we had to give him the mandate. We knew we still had to do alot of work...but now it was in a clear direction. Our wishes for his mandate were to sell our semi-commercial house situated on a busy artery of the city, right next to a 24hour fast food outlet. But the goal we gave him was not limited to this … we also needed to find a home that met our needs. Considering the budget we had...it was an impressive mandate which to our eyes approached a little miracle. Selling your home is not a cold transaction it is rift with emotions and sometimes they get in your way of thinking clearly. André was always able to keep our options clear and realistic. Patience is not everyone's virtue. André not only has plenty of it but has an attitude that allows tensions to diffuse into a very amicable atmosphere. That is beyond talent and a real plus in tight negotiations ! I could go on about André's competence but suffice it to say that on August 27th, 2012 we moved into our lovely new home that André negotiated in its finest details, breaking the paradigm of normal expectations to reach an absolutely wondrous result !
